Moove, the global mobility fintech firm led by British-Nigerian entrepreneur Ladi Delano, has announced a groundbreaking fleet management partnership with Waymo, an autonomous driving technology company under Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc.

This collaboration marks a pivotal step in Moove’s U.S. market entry and is part of a broader strategy to build the world’s largest fleet, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to fuel mobility platforms. This marks Waymo's first commercial collaboration within its Waymo One app.

Moove takes lead on Waymo fleet

As part of the deal, Moove will oversee the management of Waymo's autonomous fleet operations, starting in Phoenix in 2025, with plans to expand to Miami by 2026. Moove's responsibilities will cover fleet operations, infrastructure, and charging facilities, while Waymo retains control over its autonomous driving technology and app.

Despite its focus on autonomous vehicles, Moove remains committed to supporting underserved mobility entrepreneurs, particularly through its Drive-to-Own initiative, which helps entrepreneurs access vehicle ownership in regions with limited financing options.

This partnership reflects a shared vision for safe, eco-friendly urban mobility. By combining Moove’s expertise in fleet management with Waymo’s advancing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, the collaboration seeks to improve road safety, reduce congestion, and address environmental challenges.

Moove, Waymo tackle urban mobility

Ryan McNamara, Waymo’s Vice President of Operations, emphasized the value of the partnership, stating, “We’re excited to work with Moove in Phoenix and later in Miami, combining their fleet management expertise with our growing Waymo One service. Together, we can scale faster, providing safe and seamless transportation, while keeping safety at the forefront.”

Moove’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Ladi Delano, echoed this commitment, adding, "This partnership underscores our mission to advance urban mobility with autonomous tech, while supporting underserved mobility entrepreneurs globally."

Moove secures funding, expands globally

Moove, founded in 2020 by Delano and Jide Odunsi, has rapidly become a key player in addressing Africa's vehicle financing gap. The company has helped over two million African entrepreneurs with limited access to capital.

With a presence in 12 markets across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, Moove has provided financing to more than 30,000 mobility entrepreneurs worldwide, with its vehicles completing over 50 million trips.

In a recent milestone, Moove expanded into Mexico, marking its first entry into Latin America, while also securing $100 million in Series B funding from notable investors, including Uber Technologies and Mubadala, positioning the company for even further expansion.
