South African-born tycoon Barry Stuhler makes $12.6 million from Lighthouse

South African-born real estate mogul Barry Stuhler has experienced a substantial increase in the market value of his stake in Lighthouse Properties, riding on the sustained upswing in the share price of the Malta-based property firm on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).

Stuhler, known as one of the richest investors on the JSE, has seen his stake in the Malta-based property company surge by R240.05 million ($12.57 million) over the past three weeks as investors on the local bourse heightened their stakes in the Mauritius-based company.

This notable increase comes on the heels of a $6.9-million gain recorded between Oct. 20 and Nov. 20, when the market value of his stake in Lighthouse Properties increased from R863.50 million ($47.07 million) to R989.57 million ($53.95 million) cementing his position as one of South Africa’s most affluent individuals.

Lighthouse Properties boasts a diversified property portfolio that includes retail assets in France, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Stuhler owns a 9.72-percent stake in Lighthouse Properties, which amounts to 172,699,222 ordinary shares in the company.

With over 30 years of experience in the real estate sector, Stuhler, the visionary co-founder of Resilient REIT Limited, a South African Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) also owns stakes in Pangbourne Properties — a top-performing property investment company founded in 2007.

Lighthouse Properties shares surge 21.34 percent, drives market cap above $670 million

Over the past three weeks, the share price of Lighthouse Properties has witnessed a significant surge of 21.34 percent, rising from R5.67 ($0.297) on Nov. 20 to R7.06 ($0.369) at the time of drafting this report — this has propelled the company’s market cap above the $670 million mark.

According to data tracked by Billionaires.Africa the market value of Stuhler’s stake in Lighthouse Properties has increased from R979.20 million ($51.28 million) on Nov. 20 to R1.22 billion ($63.86 million) at the time of writing —marking a substantial gain of R240.05 million ($12.57 million) for the renowned entrepreneur.

This solidifies Stuhler’s status as a top investor on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and cements his position among South Africa’s most affluent individuals, further elevating his financial standing within the real estate sector.
