The gorgeous Atlanta estate, once owned by the African-American billionaire Tyler Perry and featured in his 2006 film “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” has just been bought by the highest bidder for an undisclosed amount, as reported by The Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Platinum Luxury Auctions, renowned for handling high-end sales, organized this exciting auction last Sunday. The estate, with a starting price tag of $6 million, got people talking in luxury real estate circles.

Perry sold off this lush 11.4-acre property back in 2018. Located in a quiet Chattahoochee Hills neighborhood just a few minutes’ drive from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta, this mansion is where luxury meets privacy. Perry, having acquired the then-empty plot in 2001, poured his heart and soul into crafting this custom-built residence, completing it in 2003. It has six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms spread all over its three-level structure, which covers an area of 16,500 square feet. It’s like something out of a European fairytale, complete with a backdrop of thick and leafy greenery.

Walking into this estate feels like you’ve stepped into a different world, as Trayor Lesnock of Platinum Luxury Auctions noted. The interior of the house has grand open spaces which are washed in natural light due to high ceilings and huge windows. Among other things, there is a show-stopping grand salon, an envy-inspiring kitchen for any chef out there, a study that’s fit for anyone who is passionate about learning, a personal home theatre, and a gym for all your fitness needs.

The primary suite, which stands out, covers a staggering 4,000 square feet over two floors. It opens with an intimate sitting area complete with a fireplace that leads to a bedroom with incredibly high ceilings and walls made mostly of windows. There is also a secret room at the side of the bedroom, which is perfect for a quiet home office or private reading corner. And upstairs, the walk-in closets are a fashion lover’s dream.

According to a report by Business Wire, the outdoor space is just as stunning, with a large patio, a breathtaking infinity-edge pool and spa, cozy dining and lounge spots, a classic courtyard, and a welcoming fireplace. The property is a green haven, featuring a reflective pool, beautifully pruned gardens, a decorative pond, a tennis court ready for night games, and garages for six cars.

Just a stone’s throw away is Bouckaert Farm, a sprawling 8,000-acre site known for hosting top-tier equestrian events and a range of other activities—a real draw for those with a zest for the outdoors. Prospective buyers and agents had the chance to explore this cinematic and luxurious property right up until the auction, marking the beginning of a new era for this illustrious estate.

This sale is just one of many overseen by Platinum Luxury Auctions, known for their knack for handling auctions of properties with star-studded histories.  From a Nashville home that’s welcomed stars like Adele and Ed Sheeran to a sleek lakefront property in Atlanta featured in Ben Affleck’s “The Accountant,” these sales, all conducted without reserve, showcase Platinum’s finesse in dealing with lavish, high-profile properties.
