Rising U.S. tennis star Cori Dionne Gauff (Coco Gauff) has claimed a very coveted position among the world’s top earners, amassing a staggering income of more than $15 million in 2023, according to the annual findings unveiled by Forbes.

The recent list of the world’s highest-paid athletes published by Forbes, the U.S. business magazine, revealed that the 19-year-old tennis star amassed an astounding $15.2 million in earnings over the past 12 months, catapulting her into a top spot among the world’s highest-paid tennis players in 2023.

Gauff’s remarkable journey took another significant leap forward as she captured a stunning first-round win over German veteran Laura Siegemund in the U.S. Open on Mon., Aug. 28.

Her earnings over the past 12 months, stretching back to the 2022 U.S. Open, have soared to a remarkable $15.2 million, surpassing her previous year’s earnings of $11.1 million.

This substantial income catapulted Gauff into the seventh spot on Forbes’ recently released list of the world’s highest-paid tennis players, which features tennis icons such as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Daniil Medvedev. Notably, the list also includes Naomi Osaka, who has been absent from competitive matches since September 2022.

Gauff’s earnings, amounting to $15.2 million, cement her position as one of the world’s top-earning Black individuals. These impressive earnings are a composite of on-court winnings totaling $3.2 million — comprising prize money from the past year — and off-court earnings amounting to $12 million.

Forbes derives its estimations of off-court earnings through in-depth consultations with industry insiders. These estimates encompass endorsements, public appearances, licensing agreements, and the sale of memorabilia. Additionally, they encompass any substantial returns from businesses where the athlete holds a significant stake.

As her career continues to blossom, Gauff finds herself positioned as the sixth-ranked player in the world for both singles and doubles — a testament to her exceptional talent and skill sets. Notably, she also reached the final of a Grand Slam at the French Open last year, underscoring her exceptional talent and promise on the court.

With her victory in the U.S. Open’s opening round, Gauff is now considered a prime contender for her first-ever career singles title on U.S. soil, marking a milestone in her burgeoning career.

As spectators and fans anticipate her future endeavors, Gauff remains an inspiring and influential figure in the world of tennis, setting her sights on even greater accomplishments.
